Project aimed at students of Computer Engineering or Telecommunications, with curiosity to experiment in embedded systems and who want to develop their TFG/TFM together with expert mentors from Telefónica.
Within the area of STB Technology in Digital Home Services, this project is developed within the framework of the Middleware (MW) of the Set-to-boxes (STB) of Telefónica's IPTV Television Service.
The STBs in Telefónica's Digital Home portfolio are devices that, given their low cost, have many limitations in terms of performance and memory.
Every time new functionalities are added, a lot of effort is invested in analyzing the impact of the new functionality on the complete ecosystem of modules that integrate STBs, in order to ensure that the user experience does not worsen (menu navigation speed, time to play, etc...).
In an embedded system such as STBs, it is therefore essential to have under control at all times the operating system's global performance parameters: memory, CPU, etc...
Currently, the collection of middleware performance metrics of our STBs is done somewhat manually.
We explore the integration of collectd, more automated metrics extraction. We also want to use InfluxDB and Grafana to complement data storage and visualization.
