TUTORIA design for students studying one of the following Masters or Bachelor's Degree:
Master's Degree in Computational Biology
Master's Degree in Bioinformatics
Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering
Master's Degree in Information Technologies for Health
Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics and Big Data
Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering
Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Technologies and Services Engineering
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering
This TUTORIA focuses on an applied discipline of digital processing by analysing signals from genomic sequencing with digital processing techniques (Genomics Signal Processing -GSP) with the potential to accelerate advanced applications in health, security and communications.
The emerging field of biocomputing can also benefit from GSP to simulate and optimize biological computing systems using molecular signals.
The TUTORIA is interdisciplinary focused on bioinformatics, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Biocomputing, applying techniques such as the Fourier Transform and digital filters to optimize genomic analysis. Students will also explore how DSP could facilitate simulations of biological circuits and real-time communications.
Proposed Topics:
Fundamentals of DSP applied to Genomics: How to convert DNA sequences into numerical signals and Analysis of periodicity in DNA
Applications in Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals Real-time clinical diagnostics using GSP or Personalization of pharmacological therapies through genomic analysis
Security: Application of cryptography to protect the transmission of genomic data or use of DSPs in DNA-based biometric authentication systems
Communications: Real-time transmission of genomic data using DSP or Molecular Communications Optimization
Biocomputer Simulations
