This challenge is aimed at students with a passion for software development and who want to learn about the process of ingesting multimedia content into a video platform.
University students with a degree/master's degree in Software Engineering (or similar) is the ideal profile that best fits this challenge.
Telefónica's Global Video Platform allows Telefónica's customers to access video and television content. One of the types of content is 'Video on Demand' (VOD). This concept encompasses third-party series and films that can be consumed on demand on the platform. These contents need to be previously ingested from the original provider, converted to the correct format compatible with the devices and stored on the platform. To make it available to the consumer, it must also be protected to preserve copyright.
This whole process is called 'Content Workflow' and there is currently a software system that implements this process. This process consists of several steps.
Based on the architecture of the current Content Workflow, we propose to explore the creation of a new software system to replace the current one with a more efficient and less complex one, seeking general improvements and reducing the use of resources, as well as implementing an extension of the current system's functionalities, which will provide additional value.
For this, we will use the open source Apache Airflow tool. Apache Airflow is an acyclic workflow management platform.
The learning and development of this challenge includes collaboration with Telefónica's team of software developers.
