Backend Software Engineer
Description of the team offering the internship
You will work as part of the Novum Platform team within the CDO Engineering area. We are in charge of the backend platform and core services that serve Telefónica's main mobile applications (Mi Movistar, Meu Vivo, My 02, Mein O2...) We have a base of more than 30 million active users and that makes us face complex problems related to performance and scalability. You will be able to learn by working on systems with real use and with problems that do not appear in books.
What will you learn during your internship with us?
You will be able to learn by working on systems with high traffic volume and real problems from real customers. Java / Kotlin microservices architecture running on Kubernetes clusters. Development of backend services, common libraries used by other development teams and development support tools. Optimization of scalability and performance in several dimensions: network traffic, data storage, CPU and memory usage, response times and concurrency. Automatic and manual tests to assess the quality of your development. Monitoring and alarming systems
Training and skills you will need to develop this internship
Education: studying engineering/graduate degree in computer science, telecommunications or similar. Knowledge: we value knowledge in python, java and kotlin. English: technical level to handle documentation in English. Eager to learn and know the details of how things work and why.
